Banteay Meanchey: Authorities in Banteay Meanchey have conducted flood rescue training for the three arms of the security services who respond to weather-related disasters. The training focused on the piloting of boats and paddling canoes, to be able to reach affected people quicker.

Chairman of the Municipal Unity Command, Hill Raya, was joined by Serey Sophorn City Inspector, Colonel Yan Sovann and the Commander of the Municipal Military Base, Lieutenant-Colonel Ouk Sivan. The training took place at Ang Makak in Serey Sophorn on Wednesday afternoon.

Hill Raya confirmed that the training was carried out with the direct guidance of Banteay Meanchey Governor, Oum Reatrey, who has set out “urgent measures” to rescue people affected by floods. Serey Sophorn is also one of the cities most affected by flooding caused by the release of water from a dam across the border in Thailand. Although the floods were not a major threat, the Municipal Unity Command was ready to provide emergency shelter for those affected.
